I never use artificial intelligence to create. I use it to start.
There's a huge difference between the two, and it took me a while to understand that. When I first started experimenting with AI tools in PraSer Objetos' communication process, my initial reaction was frustration. The responses were generic, too polished, lacking texture. Nothing I would want to use directly.
But that's exactly when something changed.
I realized that AI didn't need to give me the right answer. It needed to give me a starting point bad enough for me to react to. And when I react, that's when my voice emerges.
The clearest example: the Guardians
Once, I asked AI to help me describe a rescued wooden sculpture. The answer was full of clichés: "unique piece," "handmade with love," "art that transforms environments." Nothing I recognized as my own.
But amidst that generic text, a structure caught my attention: the repetition of the idea that every object tells a story.
It wasn't the phrase itself. It was what it provoked in me.
I started writing over it, deleting everything and starting from scratch, but with that spark. And that's how the idea that defines the Guardians was born: each rescued wooden sculpture carries its own biography and a purpose, a symbolic function it takes on in the life of the person who receives it.
They are not decorative objects. They are presences. Each Guardian arrives with a certificate of authenticity that tells who it is and what it came to guard.
This idea didn't come from AI. It came from the friction with it.
Why this matters for creators
Artificial intelligence is good at patterns. It knows what most people say about a given subject. And that's exactly why it's useful to me: it shows me the most obvious path, so I can choose another.
I use AI to:
- Generate a first draft that I will completely rewrite
- Test text structures before deciding on the tone
- Find what I don't want to say and get to what I do want faster
The result is never what AI produced. It's what I produced after getting annoyed with it.
Objects that guard stories and the process that creates them
Each Guardian from PraSer Objetos is born from rescued wood, fallen trees, branches shaped by time, trunks carrying decades of silence.
This creative process, of starting from the imperfect, the raw, the unexpected, is the same one I use with AI. I don't seek the ready-made answer. I seek the point of resistance that makes me create something true.
